How do you react to criticism? If you react to it as a personal attack, you may be missing out…

There was a time when I was younger where I was considered as the role model for all students.

Quiet, humble, smart, athletic and hardworking. Those were common attributes that were attached to me.

I was the guy who was good at everything.

That was my fatal flaw. No, not the fact that I was good at everything, but because I considered myself to be good at everything.

By viewing myself in the same ways that other people did, it made me arrogant and view any criticism as a personal attack.

When I was in school, I would be in math and science classes and ace all my tests without trying.

The teacher would be handing out our previous quizzes and my classmates would love to share and compare with each other.

There would be friends that would come over to my desk and ask, “What did you get?” And I would quietly say, “100%.”

They would then ask, “What?! How many hours do you study every day?”

My response would always be, “I don’t study.”

They were always completely shocked and started worshipping me as some sort of math god.
