When life puts you in a 6-feet deep hole, you’re supposed to learn how to jump out of it.

I hope I don’t offend anyone with this statement, but a few years ago, “I thought I was God.”

I was this kid in middle school who thought I had everything.

School was a breeze for me. I aced all subjects, was the best at almost every sport, and people liked me.

Every day I would receive compliments from various people and see smiles on everyone else’s faces. It felt like everyone wanted me to be the best.

I think it was the only period of my life where I liked school. On most days, I would be back at home thinking, “My life can’t get any better than this.”

I got cocky. I thought I was almighty and unstoppable. No one could get on my level or bring me down to theirs.

Then high school came and I fell down to the pits in everything.

I was failing to meet school expectations set out, I was no longer the best at everything, and people stopped liking me.

Instead of seeing happy smiles on people’s faces, I saw disgust whenever I looked at them. It was as if everyone was telling me, “You don’t belong here.”
