Do And Learn, Not Learn Then Do
In what situation do you learn best?
In my short 16 almost 17 years of life, I have heard the same message over and over again.
“You need to learn that to do this.”
You need to learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript first and then you can start building websites. You need to become a certified graphic designer before you can make a logo.
Or my favorite, you need an MBA to start a business.
Sometimes you really have to learn before you do anything. For example, a doctor should definitely have had to go through a bunch of tests and qualifications before becoming a doctor.
But the whole process of learning something and getting certified really killed my ability to get anything done.
In fact, look at my 2019 New Year’s Resolution post.
I made a huge list of what I wanted to learn every month. January was Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, February was video editing, March was drawing, April was web development, and so on.
I was naive.
Now that we’re coming close to the end of the year, I’ll tell you now that I didn’t do any of those things listed down.
It was way too difficult to learn all of those things because my back wasn’t put against the wall.
