My Parents Crush Every Dream I Have
I was in the car one night going home with my parents and my brother. I was thinking about how I had a tournament this weekend and needed to reschedule some of our private badminton lessons with our coach.
I was going through the list of days that we were busy.
“Monday, I had to work… same with Tuesday. You (my brother) have basketball practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and our current private lessons are scheduled on Friday and Saturday. Which leaves us with only one option, Sunday.”
Out of the blue, my mom flat-out said, “No, you’re not training 3 days in a row. Save the money.”
It took me by surprise and I felt betrayed.
At the beginning of the month, my mom wanted to switch us to private lessons from group lessons because she felt private lessons were more effective.
I knew the real reason. We didn’t have the money to keep training at my club via group lessons. At the time, I was okay with that.
But now, she was reducing the number of private lessons we were going to take and it hurt because I thought we had already agreed to a plan.
I stayed silent. I was hurting on the inside, but it’s okay, “I can reach my goals on my own.”
